Terra Vista Middle School Hosts Annual Family Game Night

With the theme “Better Together”, Family Game Night continues to grow year after year, providing a chance for Terra Vista families to enjoy a night of free food and games while getting connected to their school community.

“The inspiration for our Game Night is to bring students, families, and staff together in a way that builds connections and celebrates the community we have here at Terra Vista Middle School,” said Terra Vista Assistant Principal Jennifer Verett. “By creating a fun, relaxed environment with games, activities, and family engagement, we’re making it easier for everyone to get involved and feel connected to our school.

While it’s a chance to let loose and have some fun, Terra Vista also uses the event to introduce parents to the many ways they can get involved and help at school.

“We share details about upcoming events and programs where we could use some extra hands—whether it’s helping with special projects, chaperoning events, or working with students on community initiatives,” said Verett. “We’d love for anyone interested to sign up and join us in creating the best experience possible for our students.”

Verett says a big piece of Family Game Night is about equipping students with information to make their next move and work toward their future careers. During the event they offer resources and have conversations about educational opportunities beyond middle school.

“This will include an introduction to potential careers, an overview of the types of classes and skills that could help students prepare for those paths, and ideas for how students can start exploring their interests now. It’s never too early to think about future possibilities, and this is a perfect time for students and families to get inspired,” she said.

Overall, Verett says they event was a success with lots of smiles, laughs, and connections that were made stronger by simply coming together for a little fun.

“Just a huge thank you to everyone who makes events like Game Night possible. We’re so grateful for the support of our families and community. By working together, we can continue to create a positive, supportive environment where our students can succeed,” said Verett. “When families are engaged and feel comfortable in the school environment, it creates a foundation of trust and support that benefits students’ academic and personal growth. It’s a great way to show families what Terra Vista is all about beyond the classroom and to celebrate our shared commitment to student success.”
